Ron Pen, Professor at University of Kentucky and Director of the John Jacob Niles Center at UK, is an expert in early folk music, including traditional, country, and bluegrass styles. He will lead a discussion on the dulcimer, favored instrument of American songwriter and balladeer John Jacob Niles. Niles’ collection of dulcimers from luthiers of the southern Appalachian Mountains reflects a uniquely American aesthetic
