The Frazier History Museum will commemorate Underground Railroad Month with a night of stories, music, art, and the special reading of names unearthed through the (Un)Known Project.
Kentuckiana played a central role in the Underground Railroad and served as a major corridor for enslaved men, women, and children fleeing bondage.
The evening will feature the Frazier Education Team presenting on The Journey, a free audio tour of significant locations and landmarks along both sides of the Ohio River revealing local connections to the Underground Railroad, including the Town Clock Church in New Albany.
Also featured to help us learn about this important history will be author Jermaine Fowler of The Humanity Archive, visual artist and educator Dr. Jabani Bennett, Hannah Drake of IDEASxLab with glass artist Ché Rhodes on the (Un)Known Project, as well as violinist James Racine and keyboardist Omega Latham.
Teacher Professional Development: Local educators are invited to sign up for a teacher training starting earlier in the evening that incorporates this program. Click here for more details (spaces remain open for the teacher session).
